DESCRIPTION:The Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs have been described as the most important source of early stage R&D funding in the US. The programs provide $150K - $1.5M in non-dilutive grants and contracts for early stage research that has a high potential for commercialization. 11 participating federal agencies use these programs to fund early stage technology development that will help them meet their missions. The technology needs that are funded by the agencies vary widely in these programs. This special Lunch & Learn will provide a detailed overview of the programs\, how the agencies are similar and different\, what the goals of the program are\, who the participating agencies are\, and what your next steps should be to consider if this funding is appropriate for your company. Also discussed with be the support services that the Center for Innovative technology provide to Virginia based companies at no cost. Presented by Robert Brooke\, Director of Federal Funding Programs at the Center for Innovative Technology. Lunch will be provided.
