She graduated with a Bachelor's of Science in Environmental Studies from the University of Alabama and received her Master's Degree in Interpersonal Communications from West Virginia University.\n\n\n\nThe majority of her professional career has been in nonprofit management with interim teaching roles as an adjunct professor at Shepherd University.  \n\n\n\nFor more than 10 years\, she managed and directed fundraising programs for the Appalachian Trail Conservancy based in Harpers Ferry\, WV. \n\n\n\nSince May 2012\, she has served as lead executive of the Community Foundation for Loudoun and Northern Fauquier Counties.
