Incoming Virginia House Speaker Cox headlines Loudoun Chamber’s 2018 General Assembly legislative session preview

Lansdowne, Virginia – Delegate Kirk Cox, who is poised to become the next Speaker of the Virginia House of Delegates when the state legislature convenes in January, will headline the Loudoun Chamber’s annual General Assembly Legislative Session preview on December 12th.

Speaker-Designee Cox will be joined by members of the Virginia House and Senate from Loudoun County to discuss the upcoming 2018 General Assembly Session, and the new dynamic in Richmond, following last month’s historic elections for Governor and the House of Delegates.

“The results of the historic 2017 elections have created a significant shift in the balance of power in Richmond. While the full impact of that shift still unknown, the Loudoun Chamber is pleased to have the next Speaker of the Virginia House come to Loudoun to help our members better understand how these changes will impact their business and the future of the Virginia economy,” said Tony Howard, President of the Loudoun Chamber.

Speaker-Designee Cox was first elected to the Virginia House of Delegates in 1989, representing Colonial Heights. Before that he spent 30 years as a public-school teacher. Should the election results in three House races hold up, Cox will be sworn in as the 55th Speaker of the House.
