Loudoun Chamber Health and Wellness Committee Launches New Programming “Live, Be, Work, and Stay Well, Loudoun”
 
Lansdowne, Virginia – The Loudoun Chamber’s Health and Wellness Committee, known for the successful Healthy Business Challenge business scorecard, has launched a new initiative, Live, Be, Work, and Stay Well, Loudoun.” The Health & Wellness Committee’s mission is to empower Loudoun businesses and employees to make positive lifestyle changes that improve our community’s health, happiness, and productivity.
 
This initiative will focus on four wellness categories each quarter by providing interactive content, events, and workshops to encourage wellness. The first quarter of the year will focus on fitness and nutrition, followed by stress management and mental health. The third and fourth quarters will, respectively, highlight return on investment and workplace policies and then on staying healthy throughout the year. Businesses are encouraged to participate on social media, share their success stories and encourage employees to participate in the workshops and events.
 
The initiative will kick off with a panel discussion on Friday, January 25, 2019 titled, “Breaking the Stigma: Holistic Approaches to Mental Health.” This breakfast event will be at Belmont Country Club from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. and will feature some of Loudoun’s top voices in the health and wellness industry. This discussion will focus on how mental health awareness and stress management are essential to cultivating a culture of wellness in a company or an organization.
 
On the panel will be Dr. Martha Callihan, Integrative and Functional Medicine physician; Susan McCormick, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist; and Alison Sonak, a Registered Dietician. The event will be moderated by Dr. Suzanne Nixon, EdD, LPC, LMFT of Northern Virginia Integrative Therapy Center, Inova Loudoun Hospital. Following the panel, there will be a Q&A session with the audience.
