Loudoun Chamber Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA!) Class of 2021 Applications Now Open

Lansdowne, VA – Applications are now open for the Loudoun Young Entrepreneurs Academy Class of 2021, and will close Friday, June 12, 2020.

Launched in October of 2016, the Loudoun Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA! Loudoun) is a 30-week program that teaches local middle and high school students how to become true entrepreneurs by learning how to develop and launch their own business. The Young Entrepreneurs Academy is a national program located at 110 sites across 39 states.

The Loudoun Economic Development Authority and Loudoun Chamber Foundation work together to present the YEA! Loudoun program.

“The Loudoun Young Entrepreneurs Academy has been a tremendous success, because participating students learn about every aspect of entrepreneurship and receive expert instruction and mentorship from dozens of local business owners, executives and experts,” said Loudoun Chamber President & CEO Tony Howard.

The Loudoun Chamber is proud to partner with the Economic Development Authority to offer this program to our community and help these students translate the knowledge gained in the classroom into real businesses or social movements in our community,” Howard added.

The YEA program includes weekly classes, field trips, guest speakers, a trade show and an Investor Panel where students pitch their business plans to investors for seed funding. At the end of the YEA! Program students are eligible to apply for a legally registered business.

“YEA! prepared me to launch my natural teen sports drink SWEY, as well as publish my second book. At 14-years-old, the knowledge I gained through this valuable experience has taught me more than I could have imagined.” - Alana Andrews, YEA! Class of 2018

YEA! was developed at the University of Rochester in 2004, with the support of a grant from the Kauffman Foundation, and today partners with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce to engage local chambers. YEA! has graduated more than 5,000 students since 2004, who have started more than 4,000 businesses and social movements.
