By all traditional economic development metrics, a generation of data center development has created substantial benefits for Loudoun County and its taxpayers.
In recent years, that industry has experienced growing challenges. These include a more restrictive land use environment, constraints on energy availability, and growing demand driven by increased business and consumer usage of cloud-based services and the emergence of artificial intelligence.
On July 23rd, the Loudoun Chamber will convene state and local industry experts to explore the future of data center development in Loudoun County, and how the County can continue to reap the tax, jobs, and economic benefits this industry has long provided.
This 2024 Policymaker Series event will feature a keynote presentation from Buddy Rizer, Executive Director, Loudoun Department of Economic Development. An internationally recognized leader in the data center market, Mr. Rizer will be followed by Swanka Burnette, Business Manager of the Virginia Economic Development Partnership. Burnette is responsible for driving data center development in the Commonwealth, a top priority for the VEDP.
Following these presentations, the event will feature a panel discussion focused on the industry's major issues.
