Data Driven Public Schools
What if we could measure how students learn each year in public schools? School officials often cite SOL data as evidence of great public school performance. The problem with this practice is that SOL scores are easily influenced by social-economic factors. To account for these factors, the United States Department of Education and the Virginia Department of Education spent billions of dollars constructing a new measure, the Student Growth Percentile Score ("SGP Scores"). A multi-year study funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation found value added measurements, such as these SGP scores, to be the most accurate measures of student learning. Join other parents for an online information session to learn more about SGP scores and to see how your specific school measures.
