Green Business Series - Climate, the Weather & Your Business
A Changing Climate brings Business
Opportunities and Risks to Manage
In the past few years businesses in Loudoun experienced blizzards, a derecho, and droughts. Extreme weather in other parts of the U.S. caused floods and wildfires. The growing weather risks to our businesses include power outages, lost sales, property damage, absent employees and increased insurance costs. While there are risks, there is also a silver lining. Building a resilient community, for our homes and businesses, creates significant economic opportunity, from energy efficient retrofits to temporary staffing to disaster response.
In this seminar, you’ll learn about the current climate science and impacts and how local and national businesses are responding to the climate challenge by managing risks and building new business opportunities. The material is designed to be approachable and straightforward…no degree in meteorology or actuarial science required!
